Celebrating the Birth of the Forum on February 11, 1923

First Society for Readers of The Urantia Book will be hosting the 2023 Midwest Conference in hybrid mode—both in person and on Zoom—on the weekend that includes Saturday, February 11, 2023.  The event will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first meeting of the Forum, held on that date in 1923, which was a significant event in the revelatory process for receiving the Papers which became The Urantia Book.  First Society, the direct descendant of the Forum, is particularly connected to this history.

TO REGISTER:
Start a new email thread to send to [email protected]

In the Subject line, put “Midwest Conference” and your name.  In the text of the email, list the names and contact information for all individuals attending, and which days they will be in person or on Zoom.

Space is limited.  Please RSVP and Register by Friday, February 3, 2023.  Thank you.

The $40.00 in-person Registration Fee can be paid upon arrival.  ($5.00 for Friday evening only; $35.00 for Saturday only; please make checks payable to “First Urantia Society.”)   Donations from Zoom participants are welcome.

Questions: Contact Ken Keyser by email at [email protected], or by phone at (773) 338-1127.

OPEN TO ALL
While the event will be open to readers from around the Midwest (and elsewhere) to attend in person if they wish--and already a few are making plans to do so--the expectation is that Zoom attendance will be preferred by most, given the uncertainties of travel in February.  The event will be streamed on Zoom live from the Forum Room at Urantia Foundation, 533 Diversey Pkwy., in Chicago where it all began.  The Zoom Meeting link will be sent upon receipt of your Registration email.

THE THEME
The focus of the event will be on Urantia movement history and will likely respond to many questions both long-time and newer readers have about what exactly happened a century ago, and what it led to, as the Forum members met weekly to listen to and discuss the newly revealed material.  Also included will be a showing of the 2005 video “The Urantia Book: The Early Years.”
